What is New England fall style?
New England style is classic, coastal, and a little bit preppy but we’re not trying too hard. It’s truly centered around our lifestyles and it’s a happy accident the rest of the world thinks we are trendy. Think striped knits, barn jackets, canvas and leather totes, and gold-and-silver jewelry in navy, cream, olive, and camel. It’s the kind of wardrobe that looks just as good on a harbor walk as it does running errands. Verstility is key.
Striped Cardigan
A variation of any navy-and-white striped cardigan has basically lived on my body for years. It’s the kind of piece that layers over a tee on a warm day or over a sweater once it’s actually cold, and the stand collar and buttons make it feel a little more special than your average cardigan.

I’ve had a version of this bag for YEARS and it still goes with me everywhere. It great for travel, fits way more than it looks like it should, and I usually bring it along as my carryon item.

I’m a gold jewelry girl through and through. But i will say, silver is a classic and mixed metals are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Small detail, but it makes an outfit look more put-together than it actually is.

This woven leather bucket bag with the structured handle is the bag I have in my cart right now as we move from warm weather into fall. It’s got more texture than a smooth leather tote, which feels right for this coastal, lived-in look.
How I’d style these together
A few of my favorite pairings from this edit: the striped cardigan over the oversized button-down with the suede belt cinched at the waist, the lobster sweater with straight-leg jeans and the woven tote, or the barn jacket over any of the knits with the Polo cap and hoops for an easy errand-day uniform.
Is New England style only for New England?
According to my Tiktok, the people are loving New England aestetic. Which I always find a little funny, but I love that yall love what we wear. And I don’t gatekeep. At it’s core, It’s really just a set of classic, well-made basics — striped knits, barn jackets, totes, layered jewelry — so it translates anywhere the weather calls for a few good layers, no matter your zip code.
